It has been boldly predicted that in 2022 Bitcoin will take market share away from gold due to digital assets becoming more universally adopted, according to Goldman Sachs analyst Zach Pandl.

Goldman Sachs has estimated that Bitcoin’s float-adjusted market capitalisation is nearly $700 billion (£523 billion), which accounts for an impressive 20% share of the overall market composed of Bitcoin and gold - the value of gold that’s available for investment is estimated at $2.6 trillion (£1.94 trillion).

Bitcoin has taken the world by storm in recent years, growing from a concept in 2009 that was laughed at and faced harsh criticism, to something that many people now view as a long-term investment.
