A prominent cryptocurrency linked to Ripple is now available for use on the Solana blockchain. According to a report from Yahoo Finance, the integration allows both individual and institutional users to access the token on the layer-1 network through a wrapped asset issued by the firm Hex Trust. This initiative, which was first announced in December, is designed to extend the utility of the token beyond its native ledger. The move expands its potential application in market-making and decentralized finance activities on the Solana platform. More than 834,000 units of the token, valued at approximately $1.2 million, have already been wrapped and activated on Solana. The process involves authorized users sending the native asset to Hex Trust's regulated custody services, after which the firm mints a wrapped version on Solana or on supported Ethereum Virtual Machine blockchains. The wrapped tokens are backed on a one-to-one basis and can be utilized within decentralized finance protocols on those chains. Data indicates that Ethereum and Solana hold the first and second positions for total value locked in decentralized finance, while the native XRP Ledger ranks significantly lower. In addition to the activity on Solana, a substantial amount of wrapped tokens, valued at around $74.5 million, has been minted on Ethereum. The majority of these tokens have been held in a single Ethereum wallet since early November. Transaction history shows fewer than 60 total transactions involving the wrapped token have occurred. The price of the cryptocurrency has seen a modest increase over a 24-hour period, though it remains substantially below its historical peak recorded last July.
