World Humanoid Robot Games 2025 Showcase AI and Robotics Innovation in Beijing

World Humanoid Robot Games kicked off in Beijing, with about 280 teams from 16 countries participating. The event brings together various branches of robotics and showcases progress in the fields of artificial intelligence and automation.

As part of the competition program, the events focus on track and field and table tennis, but participants also tackle practical tasks: sorting medicines, processing materials, and cleaning. Such disciplines allow evaluating robots’ real-world capabilities to operate in everyday production and service scenarios.

Participants came from diverse markets: 192 teams represent universities, 88 from private companies. Among Chinese players, notable are Unitree and Fourier Intelligence, and in the competition local manufacturers such as Booster Robotics are also showcasing their solutions.

The event’s ticket policy sets prices for spectators and participants range from about 128 to 580 yuan, roughly equivalent to $17.83–$80.77 USD. The competitions themselves draw attention to several spectacular moments: humanoid athletes collide in soccer, occasionally fall during sprint starts, and race across the arena at high speeds.

In one match, four robots collided into a pile, then locked up and fell into a tangled mass. During a 1500-meter race, one robot suddenly stopped at full speed, triggering a wave of emotion and applause among the spectators.

Despite frequent falls, most robots manage to recover quickly and continue moving, underscoring their robustness and adaptability. Such incidents become valuable material for developers and researchers, as they allow testing recoverability and interaction between devices in real-world conditions.

The organizers emphasize that the data obtained have practical value for improving robotic systems in manufacturing and logistics, where coordination and reliability of machines play a key role.

Robot soccer matches develop coordination among multiple robots, which can be useful on assembly lines where coordinated work of several modules is required. As part of the overall strategy, the country continues to invest billions of dollars in humanoid solutions amid an aging population and growing global competition for advanced technologies.

In recent months, China has hosted a range of high-profile robotics events – from the earlier announced humanoid marathons in Beijing to conferences and store openings focused on robotic solutions for everyday use.
