Many restaurants have been struggling to retain or find workers amid the coronavirus pandemic. Though White Castle is now outsourcing some of its jobs, Today reports.

According to reports, White Castle is putting 100 robots in one-third of its locations.

Miso Robotics’ “Flippy? was first introduced at a Chicago-area White Castle in September 2020. In November 2021 an upgrade was made and called “Flippy 2.” The chain also decided to expand the robotics program to 100 locations.

Miso Robotics said in a statement: “By taking over the work of an entire fry station, Flippy 2 alleviates the pain points that come with back-of-house roles at quick-service restaurants to create a working environment for its human coworkers that maximizes the efficiency of the kitchen. The improved workflow allows for the redeployment of team members to focus on creating memorable moments for customers.”

Though plans to expand the program are still in the early stages. The rollout will also happen by region.
