TGIF after what feels like an exceptionally long week, readers. As we embrace the weekend, allow me to cut right to the chase:

As I’d think most of y’all know, IoT Evolution World covers a whole cornucopia of innovative solutions — quality-of-life home products like smart lighting and appliances, countless types of sensors used everywhere from soil moisture detection and wildfire protection to industrial automation on a global scale (and even up into space), predictive maintenance and fleet management systems, healthcare wearables and telemedicine, enterprise-grade network connectivity, autonomous vehicles and robotics and so much more. These are all, indeed, types of solutions; they save us time and enable the delivery of data, physical goods and resources that allows talented people to resolve challenges and adeptly take on new ones. IoT is often chock-full of neat, what’s-next-for-us feats, truly.

But when you boil it down to the meat and potatoes of the matter, what does it really take to build a modern, approachable, demand-fulfillable IoT solution?

(A loaded question, for sure.)

While certainly not fully answerable in a single bite-sized article on one chilly Friday afternoon, we can still confidently say that what it takes to build an IoT solution usually includes (but is by no means limited to) a.) defining clear, strategic objectives and understanding realistic outcomes, aligning with experts that bring both technical rigor and collaborative adaptability to the table throughout development cycles, c.) acquiring the best-fit components (e.g. hardware like sensors, microcontrollers and communications models, software and necessary security protocols, etc.), and d.) rigorous testing and ongoing vulnerability monitoring to ensure the reliability and scalability of the venture.

Like I said, that isn’t nearly the entirety of what it takes, and already it’s a massive undertaking that can feel daunting.

And at IoT Evolution Expo on Tuesday, February 11 from 1:30-1:55 PM, one session we highly recommend attending is literally titled “What It Takes to Build an IoT Solution.” What’s set to be presented there will not only cover what we just talked about in terms of realizing the impacts of a successful IoT solution, but also other pertinent insights and what-to-knows from those in the industry who have seen what it takes, as we’d like to say, “to get IoT to just work.”
