Turkey has launched its first quantum computer, QuanT, a 5-qubit system developed by TOBB University of Economics and Technology (TOBB ETÜ). Unveiled on November 21, 2024, at the TOBB ETÜ Technology Center, this historic event marks a significant advancement in the nation’s technological journey. QuanT is expected to enhance capabilities in fields such as cryptography, artificial intelligence, defense, and material science, contributing to Turkey’s competitive edge in quantum technologies.

The development of QuanT follows over a decade of research initiated in 2010 by TOBB ETÜ, positioning Turkey among the countries actively advancing quantum technology. The system is designed with scalable infrastructure, aligning with global trends in the field. Distinguished attendees at the ceremony included Vice President Cevdet Y?lmaz and Defense Industries President Professor Haluk Görgün, who emphasized the strategic importance of quantum computing in advancing Turkey’s technology vision.

Speeches by key figures, including TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarc?kl?o?lu and TOBB ETÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Sar?nay, highlighted QuanT’s role in fostering innovation, national technological independence, and leadership in quantum research. TOBB ETÜ also announced plans to establish a Superconducting Quantum Chip Production House to solidify its leadership in quantum technologies.
