Nokia is currently projected to launch a new 5G smartphone soon. Now, the appearance of a new device from this brand on the Federal Communications Commission have led to rumors this device is the G50 in question. Meanwhile, updated leaks concerning its screen size, other specs and price have emerged.

Nokia is expected to further augment its recently-instituted G-series of smartphones with a new 50 variant sometime soon. It is rumored to be a 5G device, as it has the same Snapdragon 480 processor as the Motorola phone of a very similar name.

Then again, this Nokia version is thought to emerge looking very different. It is also now said to have FCC approval for sale, thanks to a new registration by the HMD Global brand to this official body. This documentation does not confirm that the "TA-1390" it has just tested is the G50; then again, it does attest that the device has 5G and has a silhouette that might match those of up-to-date renders for the alleged smartphone.

They have been posted to Twitter by Roland Quandt, who has now partially countermanded his own earlier leak in which he specified the G50's screen size. Now, however, he suggests that, at 6.82 inches, it is to be larger than that original prediction.

Then again, the panel is still projected to be HD+ in resolution, be IPS and, as such, necessitate a side-mounted fingerprint sensor in the G50. Quandt now also believes that it will be kept on with a 4850mAh battery - a leak possibly backed up by the FCC in the course of its testing.

The Nokia G50 is now also purported to have a USB type-C port, a 3.5mm jack and Android 11. Quandt asserts this OS will see 2 years of software updates and 1 further year's worth of security patch upgrade thereafter.

The tipster also asserts the phone will have just 1 4GB RAM/128GB internal storage configuration. However, other leaks point to a TA-1370 that might arrive alongside the 1390, thereby hinting at either a lower-end SKU, variant or sibling for the G50 at launch. A date for this event is not included with these latest leaks, although Roland Quandt proposes that the 5G phone might start for €259 to €269 (~US$308-18) on its release.
