Tetris Effect: Mixed Realities builds the board in your room, no controllers required

Enhance is building a Tetris Effect you play with your hands, on a board assembled out of the room you are standing in. Enhance says Tetris Effect: Mixed Realities arrives in 2027 for Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S and as a launch title for Meta VR Glasses, and Meta's announcement puts the control scheme in four words: "no controllers required".

Monstars Inc. and Resonair are developing it, the studios behind Tetris Effect: Connected, with Enhance publishing. It is an all-new title rather than a mixed reality mode bolted onto the old one.
The pitch is that the passthrough cameras do more than show you the furniture. Meta says the game "leverages the geometry of your room and uses lighting, visual effects, and the passthrough camera", and Enhance has the room turning into "a deep-sea aquarium, remote space station, and more" as you stack.
Neither company has said which room features the game reads, or what it does with a small one.
Enhance calls the game exclusive to Meta VR Glasses and Quest 3 and 3S, which leaves out every Quest 2 in the wild. A game built on colour passthrough and room geometry was never going to run on a headset that shows the room in grey.
Tetris is exact placement under a clock, and a dropped Tetrimino cannot be taken back. Hand tracking has spent years being good enough for menus and slower games, and Enhance is putting it in front of a genre where a misread finger costs you the run.
Controllers are not locked out, either. Meta lists hands and controllers as supported input for the game, so "no controllers required" means optional rather than absent, and neither company has said how much of the game a Touch controller reaches.
Meta has been pushing the same direction all through Connect. It promised more than 75 hand-gesture games for the launch of Meta VR Glasses, and Beat Saber's spring 2027 update adds controller-free play to the game that sold a generation of Quests on two controllers.
There is no date beyond the year and no price. Meta rates it 3+, calls the comfort level comfortable, and lists it as a single-player game that needs no internet connection, which leaves no room for the online multiplayer Connected was built around. English is the only language announced so far.
A 2027 window also puts it in the same year as Meta VR Glasses, which is presumably the point of calling it a launch title. It leaves Enhance more than a year to make hand tracking hold a Tetrimino steady.
Enhance says it is "still cooking behind the scenes", which for now amounts to a 2027 window and a wishlist button.
