SDT Inc., a South Korean company specializing in quantum technology, has signed a resource utilization agreement with global quantum computing company IonQ. The agreement integrates IonQ’s trapped-ion quantum systems directly into SDT’s hybrid quantum cloud platform, QuREKA, allowing users to access global quantum hardware alongside classical resources within a single environment.
The partnership was highlighted by a high-profile appearance at the New York Stock Exchange on April 14, 2026, where SDT CEO Jiwon Yoon joined IonQ CEO Peter Chapman to ring the closing bell. This move signals a transition for QuREKA from a connectivity provider to an “execution-oriented platform” focused on identifying and solving industrial-scale challenges through co-developed quantum models.
The collaboration between SDT and IonQ is structured around three strategic objectives:
CEO Jiwon Yoon emphasized that this cooperation is a step toward integrating South Korea into the global quantum supply chain. By combining SDT’s platform expertise with IonQ’s hardware, the partnership aims to move quantum technology out of the lab and into real-world industrial settings. This follows SDT’s ongoing efforts to build a sovereign quantum infrastructure in Korea, supported by its domestic engineering capabilities in quantum sensing and control electronics.
The integration of IonQ hardware into QuREKA complements SDT’s existing hardware-agnostic strategy, providing a high-precision modality for users who require the long coherence times and high gate fidelities characteristic of trapped-ion systems.
