The Metaverse is coming whether you like it or not. Several companies are investing in mixed reality technology and software to hop on the Meta-bandwagon. Some of these companies are contacting Samsung Display to make microdisplays for their gear.

There are several devices out that can transport you to the budding Metaverse. These include Meta’s VR headsets. We’ve also seen concepts from companies like TCL that illustrate a Metaverse that exists in AR. These all underline the work that’s going on right now to truly create a fully developed Metaverse.

Samsung Display will make microdisplays for different companies

The Metaverse might still be a pretty new hotword, but Samsung Display has been making microdisplays for a while now. The company started making them back in 2011, and presented a prototype. It didn’t really do anything with the technology since then. Samsung believed that there wasn’t much money in the technology.

However, now that so many companies are investing in the Metaverse, it seems that Samsung might change its mind. The company has been contacted by several other companies to build microdisplays for their equipment.

According to Sam Mobile, other companies like Samsung Electronics, Meta, and Apple have reached out to Samsung Display for its microdisplays. This could push the company to ramp up its production and start making those displays.

If Samsung Display does start making the displays, we’re not sure how long it will be until the company is ready. Samsung hasn’t put too much work into the technology over the past decade, so it’s possible that the company will need to develop the technology even more.

Samsung isn’t the only company that’s developing the technology. LG is also working on the display technology. The company has been making great gains since it shut down its smartphone division last year. Now, if Samsung takes up the job, it will be in competition with LG.
