North Platte Planning Commission members will begin discussing possible zoning regulations for solar farms outside city limits during the nightcap of a day-night city meeting doubleheader Tuesday.

The five-member Board of Adjustment leads off at 8:30 a.m., with the nine-member planning panel starting the nightcap at 5:30 p.m.

Both meetings will be in the City Hall council chamber, 211 W. Third St. The Planning Commission meeting may be viewed live on the city’s YouTube channel at northplattene.gov/watch.

After reviewing four proposed subdivision plats in various parts of North Platte, the Planning Commission will discuss whether to recommend allowing solar farms, event centers and venues and commercial riding and boarding stables in certain A-1 districts should the City Council grant a conditional use permit.

“Transitional agricultural” districts, according to city ordinances, are mainly meant “for general agricultural purposes” within two miles of North Platte’s city limits. They’re also used “in limited instances” inside city limits.
