Kristoff Goson

Pixee Medical has appointed former Zimmer Biomet executive Kristoff Goson as chief executive officer, positioning the orthopedic technology company to accelerate its U.S. commercial expansion and global growth as demand increases for augmented reality-based surgical guidance systems.

Goson succeeds founder Sébastien Henry in the chief executive role as the company enters a new stage of commercialization. Henry will remain focused on technology innovation, leading the development of Pixee Medical’s next generation of augmented reality and artificial intelligence solutions for orthopedic surgery, while Goson oversees corporate strategy, commercial execution and international expansion.

The leadership transition comes as Pixee Medical expands the rollout of Knee+ NexSight, its next-generation augmented reality navigation platform, which recently received U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance. The company is targeting broader adoption in hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers across the United States, the world’s largest orthopedic market.

Goson brings 23 years of leadership experience from Zimmer Biomet, where he most recently served as global vice president and general manager. During his tenure, he managed orthopedic businesses generating more than $1 billion in annual revenue and led the growth of multiple technology franchises. He also oversaw strategic acquisitions, including Zimmer Biomet’s purchase of sports medicine company Embody in a transaction valued at up to $275 million.

Pixee Medical’s platform is designed to provide orthopedic surgeons with real-time augmented reality guidance for implant placement without the need for large robotic systems or proprietary implant ecosystems. By eliminating the capital investment and operational complexity associated with robotic surgical platforms, the company aims to make precision-guided orthopedic procedures more accessible across a broader range of healthcare settings.

Goson said orthopedic surgeons and healthcare providers are increasingly seeking technologies that improve surgical precision without adding workflow complexity, significant capital costs or lengthy training requirements. He said Pixee Medical’s augmented reality platform is designed to expand access to precision orthopedic surgery across hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers while improving patient outcomes.

Henry said the company has reached an important commercial milestone after validating its technology in more than 10,000 procedures worldwide. He said bringing in an executive with Goson’s commercial and operational experience will allow Pixee Medical to accelerate growth in the U.S. market while continuing to advance its augmented reality and AI technologies.

Founded in France in 2017, Pixee Medical develops augmented reality navigation systems for orthopedic implant placement. Its technology has been used in more than 10,000 surgical procedures across over 20 countries, with operations spanning Europe, North America and Asia. As the company expands its commercial footprint, it is focused on increasing adoption of its surgical guidance platform by providing a lower-cost, more flexible alternative to traditional robotic orthopedic systems.
