MARTA bus and Mobility services will run as scheduled this weekend, but riders should expect delays and longer waits due to lane and ramp closures on I-285 in southwest Fulton County beginning Friday night.

MARTA service impact

The closures will run from 9 p.m. Friday, July 10, through 5 a.m. Monday, July 13, and are expected to increase traffic across the area, MARTA said. Bus routes that are most directly affected include Routes 2, 3, 5, 14, 26, 42, 51, 52, 66, 71, 73, 83, 84, 96, 115, 116, 117, 120, 165, 178, 184, 191 and 194, along with MARTA Reach Zone 304.

Mobility, MARTA's paratransit service, will also be significantly affected. The service operates by appointment and uses curb-to-curb service for eligible customers, but delays are likely because the vans travel on surface streets that may be congested.

Other service

MARTA said all bus routes, including MARTA Reach and the bus rapid transit service MARTA Rapid, could also be delayed due to heavier traffic. Rail service will not be affected, but customers should allow extra time to get to stations and make connections.

What riders should know

Customers using the bus or Mobility service this weekend should build in extra travel time, especially near the I-285 work zone in southwest Fulton County. The agency said service will continue, but traffic-related delays may affect schedules across the system.
