South Korean weather platform Kweather and blockchain network Flare have signed a Letter of Intent to pilot publishing verified meteorological data on-chain. This project uses Flare’s oracles to provide tamper-resistant weather data like temperature and rainfall to smart contracts, enabling parametric climate insurance and weather derivatives for sectors sensitive to climate risks. The partnership aims to create decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN) and tokenize weather data revenue streams as real-world assets. They also plan to explore integration with the XRP ecosystem, potentially expanding blockchain-based financial tools for managing climate risk globally.
