India and New Zealand are set to meet in a three-match One-Day International series starting Sunday, 11 January, at Vadodara's Kotambi Stadium. This series is a key opportunity for both teams to get their preparations back on track for the World Cup next year. New Zealand, led by Michael Bracewell, will look to adjust to subcontinental conditions, while India, under Shubman Gill, aims to continue its strong home record against the visitors.

The ODI series will be played on 11, 14, and 18 January, with matches at Vadodara, Rajkot, and Indore. India has enjoyed notable success against New Zealand at home, making this a test for the Black Caps as they seek momentum. Both teams have named strong squads, mixing established stars with emerging talent.
India and New Zealand have met 120 times in ODIs. India has won 62 out of them, with New Zealand getting 50, with one tie and seven no results. At home, India has a dominant record, winning 31 and losing 8, with one no result. This history adds significance to New Zealand's challenge this time.
There are a few subplots during the series, with Shubman Gill's return in focus. Gill was dropped from the T20 World Cup 2026 squad and will be aiming to make a strong statement. Apart from him, India will welcome back Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma into the mix after their impressive run last year.
New Zealand is without a lot of experienced stars with Mitchell Santner and Kane Williamson, meaning that Michael Bracewell will be captaining the side. With the three matches expected to be a true challenge for both sides.
