India are set to take on South Africa in the second Test of the series on Saturday, November 22, at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. The fixture is extremely crucial for the hosts, as they are now staring at a second series loss at home in as many years after South Africa won the first Test by 30 runs.

To make matters worse for the home team, they will be without their captain, Shubman Gill, who has been ruled out of the match due to a neck injury. In his place, vice-captain Rishabh Pant will assume the leadership duties and will officially captain the Test team for the first time in his career.

Pant will have a huge task on his hands to save India from defeat against a rampaging South Africa, who are yet to lose a Test under the leadership of captain Temba Bavuma. Hence, a great deal will be riding on captain Pant’s shoulders as he leads his troops in the all-important encounter.

Apart from the on-field action, the second match will also mark a historic occasion in the format’s history, as tea will be taken before lunch during the game. Normally, tea is taken before supper only in day–night Tests, but the BCCI made a special exception for the day Test in Guwahati owing to the rapidly fading light in north-east India. Earlier, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia explained that the decision had been taken due to the early sunrise and sunset in Guwahati.

First Session: 9 am to 11 am.

Tea Break – 11- 11:20 am

Second Session: 11.20 am to 1.20 pm.

Lunch Break – 1:20 to 2 pm

Third Session: 2 pm to 4 pm.
