EMINENCE, Ky. — Vintage cars are lined up in an Eminence, KY parking lot for a charity cruise.
For the first time, WHAS11 saw 5-year-old Rayven in person. She ran around, hung out with other 5-year-olds and having fun at the event in her honor.
"I'm glad she's running. I'm glad she's playing. I don't want her over stressing herself because of her heart, but I'm glad she's running," said Tabitha Drew, her mother.
Rayven's back home after spending three nights in the ICU, left unresponsive after taking a bad batch of ADHD medication from the Med Save Pharmacy in Eminence.
Drew still needs answers.
"If it's an accident, we're humans, people make mistakes," Drew said. "But if it was on purpose and you knew to take the medicine off the shelf and never did, then that's going to be a very bad answer because three kids almost died out of this."
The Kentucky Board of Pharmacy found that the Med Save Pharmacy was not practicing within standards.
An inspection found the pharmacy lacked documented training and pharmacist oversight. It also found that drugs weren't being stored properly.
"I trusted my pharmacy," Drew said. "I really did."
Now, the pharmacy is blocked from mixing medicine and dispensing it.
"I feel it's a good step forward, but I feel that we still need answers," Drew said.
Mother Jessica Fields also came forward with her story for the first time.
Levi was the first child who fell sick after taking clonidine oral suspension medication.
"Me just standing beside his bed, wondering if he's going to eat, drink, just talk to me," Fields said, remembering the horrifying nights spent in the hospital.
Fields blames the pharmacy.
"I understand they made a mistake but you almost caused three kids lives because you didn't do your job right," Fields said. "Especially for a pharmacy."
As friends and neighbors drove in to show their support the mothers are still yearning for answers.
From Levi, to Rayven, they survived an experience that put them both on oxygen and a rebound that sometimes was iffy.
Now, the children are enjoying this night, and a lot of love.
