PASCO, WA - Happening throughout the Labor Day weekend is the Tri-Cities annual gaming convention.

Also known as "Games-fest" ... The event will feature any and all tabletop games such as Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons, Warhammer 40K, and other popular titles. The event will not feature any video games.

Organizers tell KEPR News this is their second year hosting the event and say the goal goes beyond playing games.

"Our goal is to make some profit to where we will buy gaming supplies for the school games clubs," said Bill Stevenson, the President of GamesFest. "There's a gal in Richland that runs one and she says at times she has 26 kids and I asked 'Do you have dice, do you have gamebooks?' she said no so (I said) we'll make our organization's goal to supply that."

Stevenson says last year's event, which was held at a different venue, saw more than 200 people attend and hopes this year will see much higher numbers.

Tournaments kick off at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, and will go throughout Sunday at the HAPO Center in Pasco. Tickets are $30 per person for the entire weekend.
