CHARLES CITY — Orthopedics and sports medicine will now be available full time at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City beginning Tuesday, Aug. 19.
Orthopedic team Jeffrey Clark, D.O., and Brenda Cooper, advanced registered nurse practitioner, have transitioned from two days per week to five days per week at Floyd County Medical Center.
“We are thrilled to offer exceptional orthopedic and sports medicine care on a full-time basis,” said Dawnett Willis, chief executive officer at FCMC.
“Having access to this caliber of specialized medical care right here in Charles City will be a tremendous resource for the communities we serve. FCMC cannot wait to see how Dr. Clark and Brenda will continue to help even more patients as full-time team members here.”
Clark has been practicing orthopedics in the Cedar Falls area since 2000, focused on enabling patients to overcome their physical challenges related to injury or the aging process.
He also previously served as the team physician for the University of Northen Iowa and Wartburg College. An expert in sports-related injuries, Clark has been on the sidelines for more than 500 Division I football, basketball, and wrestling competitions.
Recently, Clark celebrated his 20th year of performing the direct anterior approach to hip replacement in Iowa. This alternative approach is gaining popularity because of its shorter recovery time and decreased risk of dislocation, among other benefits. Many of Clark’s patients are discharged the same day.
Cooper, a nurse practitioner, has more than two decades of experience in orthopedics and has worked closely with Dr. Clark for 25 years, which includes providing treatment and sideline care for collegiate athletes. Her clinical expertise and comprehensive knowledge allow her to assist Clark with pre- and post-op surgery care.
