Electro Optic Systems (EOS) has been selected as an industry partner under Mission Syracuse, an Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator initiative to accelerate counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) capabilities for the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
Under the contract, EOS will develop the R400 SLINGER C-UAS capability, an all-in-one remote weapon system that uses a laser-guided rocket to counter small and medium sized drones. Integrating a laser-guided rocket, the R400 SLINGER provides a highly effective and flexible response to airborne threats, and will be manufactured and sustained in Australia.
EOS said that advances achieved through this programme are expected to inform broader capability development efforts, supporting a range of operational applications and platforms across the ADF.
