The integration of Kuchera’s data orchestration platform into the Edge IoT & AI portfolio addresses the mining industry’s most persistent challenge: data fragmentation. By aggregating streams from IoT sensors, personnel, and vehicle monitoring systems into a single interface, Edge IoT & AI now offers a “single pane of glass” for total operational visibility. This capability allows mining leaders to transition from reactive troubleshooting to predictive, data-led strategy.

“This is an acceleration of our vision,” says Tendayi Mwayi, CEO of Edge IoT & AI. “Mining operations are data-rich but insight-poor. Critical information is often trapped in silos, making real-time decision-making impossible. Kuchera changes that equation entirely, turning raw data into a unified engine for safety and efficiency.”

Executive spotlight: Q&A with Tendayi Mwayi

Q: What made Kuchera the ideal strategic fit for Edge IoT & AI right now?

Tendayi Mwayi: We looked at the market and saw that while we were excellent at capturing data through our various and discrete solutions, our clients needed a better way to see that data. They didn’t need another tool; they needed a unifying layer. Kuchera provides that digital backbone. It ingests data from everywhere – people, fixed and mobile equipment – and converts it into role-based insights. This acquisition evolves us from a solutions provider into a comprehensive industrial intelligence partner.

Q: Specific to mining, where will clients see the immediate impact?

TM: The impact is threefold: Safety, Situational Awareness, and Predictive Advantage.

  1. Unified Safety: We can now cross-reference fatigue data with collision warnings and vehicle telemetry in real-time.
  2. Situational Awareness: Instead of five different screens for fatigue, production and diagnostics, you have one. You can see the onset of fatigue and how it impacts delays and tips at the crusher immediately.
  3. Predictive Advantage: We are now training AI models on unified data to predict operational delays, breakdowns and safety incidents before they happen. It’s a massive leap forward for risk management.

Q: How does this acquisition support the industry’s push for ESG compliance?

TM: It turns ESG from a paperwork headache into a data asset. Because Kuchera oversees the entire value chain of material flow on a mining operation, we can automate the reporting on the operation’s carbon savings. We provide real-time, auditable proof of adherence, which is critical for modern mining houses facing regulatory pressure.

Q: What is your message to your existing clients regarding this transition?

TM: Expect an upgrade. Kuchera will become the default data layer for our vehicle monitoring ecosystem. For our existing partners, we will be working closely to integrate their current deployments into this new platform, unlocking value they didn’t know they had. We are moving toward a platform-led model that supports their long-term digital transformation, not just their immediate hardware needs.
