HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Teams from across Connecticut and New York gathered at Quinnipiac University Saturday for the first “VEX I-Q” Robotics Competition of 2025.

Homemade machines competed in different events from driver control to coding with limited human interaction.

“These young people are working cooperatively so, yes, they can score points,” said Quinnipiac Assistant Dean, John Bau. “But when one team helps another team, they each make additional points.”

The event is hosted by the Connecticut Stem Academy of Wallingford and Quinnipiac’s School of Computing and engineering. Their goal is to support thousands of students in STEM from kindergarten through high school.
