President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign on Friday said it would spend $50 million on campaign ads in battleground states. The campaign said it had $240 million on hand in July, up from $212 million last month. The president, first lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and second gentleman Douglas Emhoff plan to visit every background state in the coming weeks, the campaign said. The blitz will include online, radio, and TV ads, the campaign said.
Did the campaign address concerns about Biden’s mental acuity? The campaign noted that Biden would sit down for a one-on-one interview with George Stephanopolous. The ABC News anchor was an adviser to former President Bill Clinton. The interview will follow Biden’s poor performance in last week’s debate with former President Donald Trump. The campaign also promised Biden would be delivering off-the-cuff comments at campaign stops in the coming weeks. Biden issued a social media statement on Friday insisting he would continue running for reelection.
